Room 212 spent a couple of periods making colour wheels out of vanilla frosting, red, yellow and blue food colouring, and wafers. Good thing it was organized after our school photos had been taken!! The week prior the students talked about primary, secondary and tertiary colours. Next week we will be doing self-portraits using warm and cool colours to reflect our moods. Overall, this was an experimental lesson which worked out really well! The students worked extremely well in their groups and had tons of fun.

Here are some self-portraits of the students in Room 212 using warm and cool colours. They incorporated their emotions (e.g. cool = tired, calm, sad; warm = angry, excited, happy) using the appopriate colour scheme. They also used lines associated with these colours (e.g. cool = zig zags, sharp lines, diagonals; warm = curvy, wavy).

Can you guess which child is yours??

Pictures of Room 212!! Very spacious (thank goodness with 31 students) and extremely bright and cheery on a sunny day! Our classroom library is super cozy (although we could use some more pillows - donations welcome :)... and of course, a beautiful word wall! What more could you ask for??!!!
